*NEWS* Expansion of Child Health Plus B
As of September 1, 2008, all New York’s uninsured children are eligible for moderate or no cost health care coverage, thanks to a recent expansion of Child Health Plus (known as Child Health Plus B), New York State’s health insurance program for children.
New York State increased the income eligibility threshold for Child Health Plus (Child Health Plus B) from 250 percent to 400 percent of the federal poverty level. This means that a child in a family of three whose income exceeded $44,000 would not have been able to participate in the program prior to the expansion but now, if that family’s income is no greater than $70,000, the child will be eligible for coverage at no cost or at a reduced monthly premium. In addition, any family above 400 percent of the federal poverty level will be able to buy into the Child Health Plus program paying a full monthly premium. The full premium varies depending on the health plan chosen by the family.

*NEWS* Morris Heights Health Center is one of only 12 sites to be part of the first wave of Health Facilities to have staff Certified by the State of NY to Process Presumptive Eligibility.
    PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY AND YOU
The Medicaid Program provides certain health care services to children under nineteen years of age with family incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The presumptive eligibility determination takes minutes to process. During this period, the child is eligible to receive a broad array of Healthcare services until the local department of social services (LDSS) makes a final eligibility determination (final approval).
