MHHC Brooklyn Celebrates National Health Center Week 2023
WHAT: On Friday, August 11th, MHHC Brooklyn, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), serving residents in Central Brooklyn and the surrounding areas, is partnering with NYC Council Member Rita Joseph to host a back-to-school giveaway and a family movie night in observance of National Health Center Week (August 6-12). National Health Center Week (NHCW) is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), to raise awareness on the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.
Community Health Centers (CHCs), like MHHC, serve as a safety-net to low-income and rural communities, providing affordable and accessible primary healthcare to more than 30 million Americans, regardless of their ability to pay. The 2023 NHCW theme, “The Roadmap to a Stronger America” reaffirms CHCs longstanding commitment to improving health outcomes and eliminating health disparities in communities they serve. This year, MHHC Brooklyn will organize its first annual celebration since opening its doors in 2022. Local community partners will join the health center to distribute over 200 backpacks and school supplies at the back-to-school giveaway, from 4pm until supplies last. Attendees will enjoy a fun filled evening of live entertainment, free giveaways, face painting, and an abundance of community resources. MHHC Brooklyn will conclude its daylong activities with an outdoor movie night event scheduled for 8pm, where attendees can enjoy the taste of buttery popcorn and a family friendly film.
