Physician SBH

JOB SUMMARY

A highly skilled individual with solid knowledge in medicine, delivery of patient care and some management of health care; works in partnership with the Medical Director and VP of CBS & other management staff in the SBHC program in ensuring the provision of quality clinical and medical services.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as the supervising physician for clinical staff and works collaboratively with other clinical preceptors to ensure compliance with all NYSDOH and other governmental rules & regulations.
  • Provides on-going medical consultation for NP in accordance with NYS Education Law, Article 139, Sections 6902.3 ( c) and (e); OR
  • Provides supervision for PA in accordance with NYS Education Law, Article 131-B, Section 6542.3 and Section 6542.4.
  • Is accessible to the NP/PA at all times via telephone.
  • Provides a minimum of six (6) hours per month of face-to-face collaboration/consultation with each NP/PA with the following provisions:
    • Face-to-face consultation/collaboration with NP/PAs must occur at each SBHC site not less than once every two weeks;
    • In addition to the on-site clinical consultations, the collaboration/supervision time requirement may be met on-site or off-site through various interactions, including: individual or group (multiple NPs/PAs) case discussions, clinical care management reviews, and education sessions;
    • Chart reviews must be performed at each site at least once every three months. The goal is to have 5 chart audits at each supervisory visit.
  • Provides more extensive collaboration/supervision as needed based on NP/PA experience, training, and ability.
  • Has the option of providing full time primary care.
  • Support the Medical Director of Community Based Services in the following areas:
    • Maintaining medical services by setting health care standards, developing/implementing policies and procedures to ensure the standards are met and communicating policies to staff.
    • Ensure medical providers are in compliance with SBHC productivity requirements.
    • Participates in the evaluation of supervisees and the SBHC program.
    • Participates in SBHC Performance Improvement activities.
    • Maintains a clinical practice in accordance with the medical staff by laws, JCAHO. standard, state and federal guidelines and as per the Center's Policies & Procedures.
    • Participates in the hiring and ongoing evaluation of clinical staff of SBHC.
    • Participates actively in Community Outreach activities, as appropriate.
    • Participates in student internships and training as directed.
    • Participates in SBHC research as directed.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides medical supervision to the assigned clinical staff, nurse practitioner, physician assistants, medical providers and residents, students and other Para-professionals.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  2. Education/Experience:
    1. Graduate from an approved medical college
    2. Completed internship and residency training from an approved medical facility.
    3. Two or more years of experience as an Associate Medical Director is preferred
    4. Board certified or board eligible by specialty board.
  3. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. The ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas) scientific equation, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Also, the ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

  4. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Write speeches and articles using original or innovation techniques or style. Make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or broad of directors.

  5. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

  6. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel a; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  7. Certifications/Licenses:
    1. Must have a valid New York State license
    2. Must have Infection Control certification by a State approved facility
    3. Must have current copy of DEA Certificate
    4. Must have CPR/BLS certification

  8. Health Care Workers at Special Risk: Health care workers who have diseases/conditions and/or being treated with agents are at special risk for contracting infectious diseases, including TB and HBV and through occupational exposure to high risk populations.

  11. Evaluation Methodologies: This position will be evaluated based on satisfactory completion of above duties. Evaluated at three, and six months after initial appointment date and annually thereafter. These areas will be examined: clinical practice, chart reviews, productivity, attendance, leadership, patient satisfaction and interpersonal/Customer Service skills. In addition, a patient evaluation will be conducted every two years at the time of reappointment.

$160k-$180k salary range
