Radiologic Technologist

JOB SUMMARY

With limited supervision and broad general direction, performs administrative duties of supervision within all division of the Radiology Department. Responsible for evaluating and maintaining the quality and appropriateness of the Radiology services on a technical level. Possesses knowledge of human growth and development. Able to understand the range of treatment needed by each patient age group.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees the operations of the Radiology department in its day-to-day function conferring with the Chief Radiologist and Administrator Specialty Services on the mission and vision of the department.
  • Together with the Chief Radiologist and Administrator Specialty Services determines the standards of the quality and appropriateness of the Radiology Service.
  • Evaluates radiological services of assigned modalities and maintains standards of quality. Is responsible for the direction of technologists and support personnel assigned with regard to schedules, work areas and quality.
  • Develops mechanisms to evaluate the quality and appropriateness of Radiology service and it’s divisions and assists the Chief Radiologist and Administrator Specialty Services in making such determinations.
  • Mediates individual problems and refers to superior unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, scheduling, work methods, procedures, discipline, transfer, safety and other actions regarding assigned personnel.
  • Coordinates and participates in the formal and in-service training programs of the department.
  • Keep abreast of new procedures, equipment, and methods, coordinate, and participate in their evaluation and application.
  • Coordinates Quality Control programs for all processors, radiographic machines and other mechanisms and devices within the department.
  • Responsible for payroll and administrative records of personnel and patients as may be required. Responsible for and recommends procurement of supplies, equipment and area modifications necessary for practical economical operations. Direct and supervise supportive personnel, assessing their competence, delegating specific tasks to them and establishing channels of communication.
  • Develops and maintains high level of customer service.
  • Directs and controls departmental workflow.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Performs radiographic examinations when required.
  • Adhere to the Policies of the MHHC to ensure that patient information and medical records are treated as confidential, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Performance improvement activities
    • Employee Health Service with annual fit testing of all MHHC staff
    • Agency and department orientation of new employees
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology, registration by the A.R.R.T

  2. Experience: At least four years work experience, including supervisory experience in Radiology department. Familiar with a variety of Radiology field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  3. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent customer communication skills are required for this position. Individual must demonstrate proficiency with communicating on the telephone as well as in writing and must meet MHHC customer service expectation and the overall Service Excellence standards in all facers of the job. Individual must be able to work in a team oriented environment. Motivate and provide effective leadership to Radiology staff.

  4. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  5. Language Skills: English, Spanish (Bilingual) preferred. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization

  6. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  7. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, and smell. The employee required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  8. Certifications/Licenses: Registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) is required.

HIRING RATE

$30.68- $33.46 per hour (based on experience)
