Healthy Halloween & Lead Poisoning Prevention at MHHC Brooklyn

  • Date Posted: Oct 28, 2024

We had an amazing time on October 25th hosting not one but two events in celebration of Halloween and National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week! The dual events brought together community members and partners for a day full of fun, education, and resources.

At our Happy Treat, Healthy Treat event families enjoyed decorating fruits into spooky Halloween monsters, creating nutritious and creative “scary” snacks. They also went home with Halloween treat bags filled with healthy fruits, dental kits, and spooky stickers!

At our Lead Poisoning Prevention Awareness event in partnership with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), we provided crucial information on preventing lead poisoning, water testing kits, and useful giveaways. Our event partners helped make this a comprehensive resource day for families to learn about the importance of lead safety in homes.

A heartfelt thank you to our fantastic partners for making both events impactful: The Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, NYC Housing Preservation & Development, Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Council Member Rita Joseph, Affinity by Molina, and the Daycare Council of New York.
