MHHC Impact Awards Gala

BRONX, NY, June 15th, 2017 – On Thursday, June 15th, 2017, The MHHC Foundation hosted its annual MHHC Foundation IMPACT Awards Gala at the beautiful Marina Del Rey in the Bronx, NY.
This year’s gala honored three distinct individuals that have been the champions of eliminating the disparities in the Bronx, and advocates of social change. The honorable Carl E. Heastie Speaker of the New York State Assembly, Popular Community Bank’s Chief Operation Officer Manual Chinea,and Lindenwood RX Pharmacy received the Community Advocate Award, Corporate Trailblazer Award, and the Community Partnership Award respectively. In addition, Morris Heights honored the late Joseph Orlando, board member with a post-humorous award in recognition of his hard work and dedication to Morris Heights and the healthcare community.
MHHC Foundation continues to be the philanthropic arm of Morris Heights Health Center and continues to be the pillars of the bridge that helps disenfranchised youth pursue a higher education. This year the foundation gave to total of twenty-seven IMPACT scholarships totaling $110,000. Not only were eighteen IMPACT scholarships awarded a college-bound high school senior, which is the most the Foundation has ever given, but also, for the first time ever the Foundation awarded scholarships to past awardees. Lastly, a special scholarship was awarded to the Talented Unlimited High School to help in any academic endeavors. The MHHC Foundation has acknowledged that not only is it important to attend college, but it is deemed imperative that students finish college as well.
